1.   NL Scientist/NL Engineer

Location: Shanghai or Beijing.

Job Summary

Research in Natural Language and Machine Learning has already made a deep impact in Apple’s front-line products, such as Siri. Research Scientists at Siri are taking this a step further by redefining artificial intelligence, and creating groundbreaking technology for natural language processing, machine learning, and large scale systems. Key Qualifications

•          Expertise and experience in various facets of machine learning and natural language processing, such as classification, feature engineering, information extraction, structured prediction, clustering, semi-supervised learning, topic modeling and ranking

•          Programming experience in one or more of the following: Java, C++, Python or equivalent

•          Hard working, self-starter, proven ability to manage multiple projects to strict deadlines. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of engineers

•          Contributions to research communities, e.g. ACL, NIPS, ICML, CVPR, etc.

•          Native Chinese language speaker and proficiency of Mandarin Chinese

•          Intimate knowledge of greater China region and its culture

Description

The goal for this role is to take Apple’s Chinese voice assistant to the next level of intelligence and accuracy using advanced statistical techniques. From improving core modeling algorithms to creating experiments and implementing prototypes rapidly, Siri NLP Research Scientists work on newer challenges everyday. They work hand-in-hand with other engineers in the team to build and invent a phenomenal product with a prime focus on accuracy, understandability and performance of the product.

This position involves a wide variety of skills and innovation, and is a unique opportunity that sits at the cutting-edge of machine learning and software engineering. Ultimately, your work would have a huge impact on hundreds of millions of users across the globe.

Education

Masters or PhD in Computer Science, with a specialization in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction or related fields, or equivalent experience and 5+ years of industry/academic experience

2.   Siri Software Engineer (Server)

Key Qualifications

•          Strong Computer Science fundamentals including familiarity with basic algorithms

•          In-depth development experience with server-side Java and web services

•          Strong object-oriented programming and design skills

•          Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills

•          Experience writing multi-threaded code

 Description

The Siri Team is looking for someone with a combination of strong programming skills and a creative, user-focused mindset. You will be an outstanding teammate who can collaborate with engineers in several technical areas that have crafted the entire range of Siri's capabilities. You should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.

Specific responsibilities include:

•          Crafting and implementing natural language interactions and work flow that provide intelligent user assistance

•          Integrating data feeds and live service providers using web services - Working with our platform team to define infrastructure interfaces *

•          Working with design and client-side teams to ensure a phenomenal user experience

•          Working with localization team to support the Siri experience in multiple languages

Education

BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent and 5+ years of industry experience

Additional Requirements

3.   Siri Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Summary

Play a part in ensuring the quality of groundbreaking technology for large scale systems, natural language, big data, and artificial intelligence. You will be interacting with various teams of cross functional engineering and project management to help identify issues, test features and drive the quality of the Siri China user experience. Key Qualifications

•          Native language speaker proficiency of Mandarin Chinese

•          Knowledge of Chinese dialects spoken throughout greater China

•          Intimate knowledge of greater China region and it’s culture

•          Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

•          Degree or working experience is the Computer Science field

•          Exceptional ability to map technical software/hardware issues to the user experience

•          Strong organizational skills and experience working on large cross functional teams

•          Self-motivated and pro-active with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

•          Flexibility to respond and react to a rapidly evolving software environment

•          Strong understanding of iOS, Mac OS X, debugging tools and Terminal

•          Expertise in one or several of the following programming languages: Python, Javascript, Java, Objective- C

•          Experience building and/or scripting test automation

Description

Based in Shanghai China, you will be responsible for the quality of the end to end Siri China user experience. This includes but is not limited to: Feature scoping, test plan engineering, on device testing, network and performance testing, triaging out software bugs, contributing to test automation efforts and regular reporting on feature quality. Escalating key quality issues and driving to resolution, you will be interacting with international testers, development engineers and project management around the world to help reproduce issues, test features and drive the quality of the Siri China user experience.

Education

MS/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
